The Story Behind Solecito Play Cafe

Every big dream starts somewhere — ours started with a little sun, a lot of love, and a vision for something our community truly deserves.

Solecito means "little sun" in Spanish. It's the word of warmth, of brightness, of something that makes you feel good just hearing it. That's exactly what we want this place to be — a little sun for families in Plainfield, IL.

As a Latina mom, I spent years looking for spaces where my children could play, learn, and grow in an environment that reflected our culture and language. Spaces where Spanish wasn't an afterthought. Where our traditions were celebrated, not just tolerated.

I couldn't always find that. So I decided to build it.

Solecito Play Cafe will be a bilingual play cafe for children ages 0–5 — a place where families can come together, little ones can explore and create, and everyone feels seen, welcomed, and at home.
