Behind the Colors of Solecito
Before there's a space, there's a feeling.
Long before the lease was signed and before we could point to a place and say, "This is where Solecito will be," I knew how I wanted Solecito Play Cafe to feel.
Warm. Happy. Welcoming. Full of life.
A little like sunshine you can walk into.
And when it came time to choose our colors, the inspiration was actually much closer to home than a design board.
It started with our family, our culture, and the colors we love.
Turquoise has always been my color. My birthstone is aquamarine, so maybe it was meant to be, but for as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to those beautiful turquoise and aqua tones.
Then came our girls, with their love for orange and pink.
And yellow? Well, we all love our sunshine—and with a name like Solecito, how could we not have yellow?
But there's another piece of inspiration behind these colors, too: Mexico. 🇲🇽
I've always loved the beautiful colors found throughout Mexican culture, especially in Talavera—the way different colors and patterns come together with so much life, warmth, and personality.
I knew I wanted Solecito to carry a little splash of that.
Not in a way that feels overly themed, but through thoughtful touches of color and pattern that feel like us and connect back to our culture.
And as the palette evolved, we added a beautiful blue alongside the turquoise. That extra pop of blue brought everything together and gave us another little nod to the vibrant colors I love in Talavera.
Little by little, our colors became Solecito colors.
A Little Meaning Behind the Colors
Coral brings the energy bright, happy, playful, and full of life.
Yellow is our sunshine. Warm, cheerful, and pretty much a must for a place called Solecito.
Turquoise is a little piece of me my aquamarine birthstone, the color I've always loved, and now part of something I've dreamed about for years.
Blue gives us another bright, beautiful splash and pairs perfectly with the turquoise while bringing in a little more of that Talavera inspiration.
Pink brings the sweetness and fun, with a little influence from our girls, of course.
And then there's our warm cream, quietly holding everything together and giving all those happy colors room to shine.
When I look at them together, they just feel like Solecito.
Bright, but not overwhelming.
Playful, but still warm.
Colorful, happy, and with a little splash of México woven in. 🇲🇽
And what I love most is that these aren't simply colors we chose because they looked good together.
There's a little piece of us in them.
Our girls. My aquamarine. Our sunshine. Our culture.
And now that Solecito has a home, I'm getting even more excited thinking about these colors moving from a screen and a palette into an actual space.
Onto the walls.
Into the little details.
And maybe even a little Talavera-inspired surprise here and there.
We're getting closer every day, and I can't wait for the moment when you walk through our doors and see how all these little pieces we've been sharing finally come together.
A little more Solecito is coming to life.
